A Brief History of our Congregation
In the year 1921 a small group of Lutheran Christians requested the Mission Board for a survey to determine the feasibility or organizing a mission station in Mineola. The Reverend L. Wagner, Pastor of Grace Church, Queens Village, assisted in this canvass and provided the necessary leadership in the development of the new mission station

Rev. Arthur J. Doege installed as our fourth Pastor.

Over the years Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Mineola has reached out into surrounding villages and is the “mother” of three established Congregations:

With seven distinguished and dedicated Pastors in our ninety-four years of development, Our Saviour Lutheran Church has had an interesting history of growth and building, dedicating its energies to Mission development and support near and far, while remaining faithful to the preaching of the Word within our Congregation and community.
1921:
- First service in St. Paul’s Methodist Episcopal Church.
- Ladies Aid Society organized.
- Our Saviour Lutheran Church formally established.
- Called our first Pastor, Walter E. Schwolert.
- Broke ground for the Chapel-Parsonage.
- Chapel-Parsonage completed and dedicated.
1926:
- Congregation self-sustaining.
- Rev. Conrad Schroeder installed as our second Pastor.
1932:
- Rev. August Brustat installed as our third Pastor.
1935:
- Our present church building completed and dedicated.
1949:
Rev. Arthur J. Doege installed as our fourth Pastor.
1957:
- Original 1922 Chapel-Parsonage building donated to Nassau County Police Boys Club and moved to new location.
- New Parish House built and dedicated.
1972:
- Rev. John J. Marschhausen installed as our fifth Pastor.
1983:
- Rev. Robert R. Mursch installed as our sixth Pastor.
1989:
- Together with three sister congregations, created and organized The Lutheran Counseling Center. From the beginning, the initial counseling rooms and the main office for the Center are located at the church.
- Rev. Albert W. Triolo installed as our seventh Pastor.

1941:
- The Nassau Lutheran School had its beginning in the basement of original Chapel- Parsonage. As enrollment grew the school building, with the help of several local Congregations, was constructed.
1952:
- The school dedicated its present, nearby building.
1960:
- Our Saviour, together with sister Congregations, developed and continues to support the Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School in Brookville.
1981:
- Established the Suffolk counterpart of Lutheran High School in Islip, moving to larger quarters in St. James.
